Car gets stuck under truck in Gwinnett County
NORCROSS, Ga. - Police are investigating an accident that happened on Jimmy Carter Blvd near North Norcross-Tucker Road around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday and spotted a car lodged under a debris truck. Norcross Police said a Saturn was traveling southbound on N. Norcross-Tucker Road when it ran a red light and drove under a tractor trailer headed westbound on Jimmy Carter Blvd. Investigators said the Saturn was dragged about 200 feet before catching fire.
Police said the driver of the Saturn was trapped and had to be extracted from the car. The driver was rushed to the hospital, but officials have not released details on the extent of injuries.
Westbound traffic was shut down while crews worked to clean up the scene. Traffic was allowed back along the stretch of road just after 3 p.m.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
