BREMAN, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - The Bremen High School student who suffered burns on more than 80-percent of his body is out of surgery.
Mayson Mckinzie's mother wrote on social media who early Tuesday evening that her son's seven-hour surgery went smoothly.
The 14-year-old was badly injured while burning debris outside of his family's home Saturday.
The freshman was flown by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital where he remains.
Meantime, the community has rallied around Mayson and his family raising more than $17,000 to help pay for his treatment.
The community has set up a #maysonstrong GoFundMe account and are selling T-shirts at his high school.
