Beloved Fox Theatre organist awaiting kin weeks after death

ATLANTA (AP) — A medical examiner in metro Atlanta says his office has contacted family members of the Fox Theatre's beloved in-house organist, whose body has remained in the medical examiner's custody since he died nearly three weeks ago.

DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office director Patrick Bailey confirmed Thursday that Larry-Douglas Embury's body has been in his custody for preservation until the musician's family can claim it.

Embury spent more than a decade warming up Fox Theatre audiences with pre-show performances on its massive, custom-made Moller pipe organ. Local media outlets report Embury died at his home Feb. 19.

Bailey says Embury's relatives have been contacted and are making arrangements for his body to be released. He said he expects that to happen "very soon."
