Authorities are searching for a Georgia man accused of running an email phishing scheme and stealing $20,000 from an Alabama bank.

The Telegraph of Macon reports 25-year-old John Pierre is being sought on charges including theft by using computers. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office in Georgia says he has ties to Miami, Florida.

Deputies say $20,000 was stolen from an account at the bank through wire transactions that were traced to Pierre. The bank account was frozen before all the money could be withdrawn. The stolen funds were used to buy $6,000 worth of gift cards and money orders.

Pierre's girlfriend, 35-year-old Samantha Riccle Cole, was arrested this week in the scheme on charges including money laundering. She posted bail and was released. It's unclear if the two have lawyers.
