What we know:
Crews used both offensive and defensive firefighting tactics as conditions changed.
Firefighters also worked to protect a neighboring house after flames spread to the property. Crews quickly extinguished that fire, limiting the damage.
No injuries were reported in the department's initial information.

What they did:
Firefighters also turned their attention to a small farm area behind the burning home, where they rescued multiple chickens and ducks.
One cat was also rescued, but a second cat remained unaccounted for.
Did a cat accidentally start the fire?
What we don't know:
The homeowner told firefighters she believes the fire may have started after a cat knocked over a heater used for a turtle.
Atlanta Fire Rescue investigators were called to the scene to determine the official cause of the fire.
