After months of waiting for answers, the family of a man hit and killed along a Decatur roadway February 2 now has some answers.

Tuesday Decatur Police arrested Omari Young, 39, for the death of Anthony Lingoes, 33.  According to investigators, Lingoes was walking near the intersection of College Avenue and Candler Road when Young hit him and then drove away.

Young is charged with vehicular homicide and hit and run.  He made his first court appearance late Wednesday and a judge granted him $10,000 bond.

"It's good that they found the person, but it doesn't fix what happened.  So, it's been really hard just processing everything for me," said Andrew Lingoes, Lingoes's brother.

"It's good to know that somebody will be held accountable for that.  It's also hard too I think a little bit about that person's family.  Now, they're going to have to go through what I'm sure is a nightmare for them."

Lingoes said he was grateful for all the hard work of the Decatur Police and the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office on the case.  He also wanted to thank the Decatur community, which stepped up to donate money for his brother's funeral expenses.  The family had enough money left over to donate a book to every first-grade student at the elementary school Lingoes attended in Massachusetts.

"We wanted something positive to come out of the whole situation and we were at least able to do that.  That's the least we could do," said Lingoes.

Young's next court appearance is scheduled for November.
