Don’t day-drink and drive. That’s the reminder from the Arizona Highway Patrol following the arrest of a driver who allegedly had a blood-alcohol level that can only be described as dangerously high.

Big picture view:

The driver registered a 0.441 BAC, which is more than 5½ times the legal limit, according to a post from state law enforcement. An image shared by the agency showed an alcohol bottle sitting in the cupholder. It may have been nearly empty, but there was a full one in the glove compartment.

By the numbers:

For reference, a level of 0.31% or higher is "especially dangerous and may even be fatal," the National Library of Medicine reported. This driver’s BAC was allegedly half-again higher than that.

What they're saying:

"Girl, this just isn't the post-brunch vibe," the highway patrol wrote in the post. It concluded by adding, "You have plenty of options for your midday ride home after day drinking. Day drinking in your car is not one of them."

Timeline:

According to state police, multiple people called 911 on June 27 to report a possibly impaired driver heading south on a Phoenix highway. When troopers caught up to the tan Subaru, the driver refused to stop and kept driving until the vehicle crashed into a wall and a sign.

Troopers described the driver as "behaving very impaired" and noted the alcohol bottle in the cupholder. The driver was taken to the hospital for medical attention, and that was when they tested for blood-alcohol content.

What's next:

The driver faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
