APD: Homeless man found stabbed, suspect wrecks car in getaway
ATLANTA - Atlanta police are investigating after a homeless man was found with multiple stab wounds in downtown Atlanta early Friday.
Police said the victim was sleeping near a church at the intersection of Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard and Peachtree Street when the incident occurred.
Investigators told FOX 5's Marissa Mitchell a witness saw the incident and alerted authorities.
A short time after the assault, Lt. Ricardo Vasquez said the suspect got into a wreck with another vehicle less than a mile away on Peachtree Street. He's expected to recover from his injuries, and authorities plan to speak with him to establish a motive for the stabbing, according to Lt. Vasquez.
The victim was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is being treated.
He was listed in critical condition as of Friday morning, according to authorities.
