Special event celebrates music & culture of the Deep South

ATLANTA - It may be impossible to truly see the world through someone else’s eyes – but thanks to the striking images of Atlanta photographer Adam Smith, it is possible to better understand what makes the Deep South such a unique landscape and breeding ground for terrific music.

City Winery Atlanta is hosting Smith and his collection of images – titled See That My Grave Is Kept Clean: A Look Into The Music and Landscape of the Deep South – during a special event on the evening of Friday, August 24th.  The collection features photographs of Blues legends from the Deep South, and will be accompanied by a musical performance from Ben Nichols and Cedric Burnside.  Nichols is a singer-songwriter and guitarist and frontman for the band Lucero, and Grammy-nominee Burnside is both a drummer and guitarist who happens to be the grandson of legendary Blues musician R.L. Burnside.  Along with viewing Smith’s award-winning photographs and listening to the music, guests will be able to purchase limited-edition prints of negatives from the photographer’s darkroom. 

Doors for the event open at 6:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets start at $20.  City Winery Atlanta is located at 650 North Avenue in Atlanta, at Ponce City Market.
