Serenbe Playhouse says, 'Come to the Cabaret!'

It’s one of the most successful Broadway and movie musicals of all time, winning an armload of both Oscars and Tony Awards in its various productions.  But now, one of the nation’s most prestigious theatre companies is bringing Cabaret to life in an entirely new place – the great Georgia outdoors.

Serenbe Playhouse is presenting the Kander & Ebb classic Cabaret now through August 23, turning the musical into one of its intricate, site-specific productions.  The company has gained national attention over the past several years thanks to its unique use of outdoor locations in staging projects from Hair to Miss Saigon to Grease, and now Artistic Director Brian Clowdus and his team of designers have constructed a neon-laced Kit Kat Klub in the woods.  Clowdus is also stepping out from behind-the-scenes for this production, taking on the role of The Emcee and joining longtime friend and Broadway performer Molly Tynes (starring as Sally Bowles, and previously seen in the famed Broadway revival of Pippin) on the stage.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken took a trip to the set and spoke to the stars about their long, shared history with Cabaret.
