Here comes Buddy! 'Elf' lands at City Springs Theatre

He’s become a bona-fide holiday icon, gaining new fans every single holiday season.  Now, Buddy the Elf is settling in for a stay right here in Metro Atlanta, taking over the stage at the Byers Theatre at The Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center starting this week.

Elf the Musical is the latest production from City Springs Theatre, opening December 7th and running through December 16th.  The musical is based on the hit 2003 film starring Will Ferrell, which tells the story of Buddy, an "elf" who learns he’s actually human and travels to New York to find his birth father.  Taking over the role of Buddy on stage is Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley, a Georgia native who won Broadway’s top honor for Oklahoma! and was last seen in the City Springs Theatre production of 42nd Street.

Joining Hensley in this holiday production is actress Autumn Hurlbert, who plays Jovie and was previously seen on Broadway in Legally Blonde: The Musical.

Elf the Musical runs December 7th through December 16th at the Byers Theatre at The Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center, located at 1 Galambos Way in Sandy Springs.  Tickets start at $30, with discounts available for seniors, students, groups, and military.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken shares Buddy’s enthusiasm for the holidays, and couldn’t wait to spend the morning in Sandy Springs getting a behind-the-scenes look at Elf the Musical.
