Annual Hydrangea Festival brings the 'blues' to Douglas County

It's easily one of the most colorful celebrations in North Georgia, and this year, the color of choice at the Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival in Douglas County will be blue.

The 9th annual festival is blooming this Saturday and Sunday, June 4-5, and the theme Hydrangea this year is the Blue Wave.  The overall theme of the festival is "America, The Beautiful!" -- so expect plenty of red and white to go along with the blue flowers.  The festival includes a world-class flower show, featuring hundreds of entries in more than 60 categories at the Douglas County Courthouse.  Other events include a 5K Hydrangea Run on Sunday morning, the opening of the Douglas County Butterfly Trail on Saturday afternoon, and self-guided tours of designer gardens.
