Gov. Kemp signs 'Georgia Early Literacy Act 2026' into law

Governor Brian Kemp has officially signed House Bill 11-93, marking a major overhaul of how reading is taught in classrooms across the state. Known as the "Georgia Early Literacy Act 2026," the legislation is designed to combat a growing literacy crisis, with state leaders reporting that only one in three Georgia students can currently read at grade level by the end of the third grade. The bill, which was a cornerstone of Speaker Jon Burns’ legislative agenda, received broad bipartisan support during the session and was a top priority for the Governor.
