A 134-year-old pillar of Northwest Georgia history is in ruins after a catastrophic fire gutted the Historic Floyd County Courthouse in downtown Rome. The blaze, which broke out on Monday afternoon was so intense it caused the building's iconic bell tower to collapse, leaving only a charred shell of the 1892 landmark. While the physical loss is staggering, officials confirmed that all 35 employees inside were safely evacuated, and no injuries to the public or first responders have been reported.
