Social Circle lock water meter at proposed ICE mega-facility
The battle between the small town of Social Circle and the federal government has escalated to a complete utility standoff. On Monday, March 17, city officials confirmed they have placed physical locks on the water meters at a massive warehouse recently purchased by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The city says the move is a last resort to protect its limited infrastructure from being overwhelmed by a facility that could effectively triple the town's population overnight.
