FBI investigates mass shooting as potential act of terrorism
The FBI and Austin Police are investigating a mass shooting at Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden on Sixth Street that left three dead and 14 injured early Sunday, March 1, 2026. Authorities identified the gunman as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, a naturalized citizen from Senegal. Investigators are probing a "potential nexus to terrorism" after finding pro-Iranian symbols on the shooter and a Quran in his vehicle.
