Atlanta protesters demand ICE funding halt
About two dozen protesters gathered Monday on the 17th Street Bridge near Atlantic Station in Atlanta, calling on Sen. Jon Ossoff to block $10 billion in federal funding for ICE and DHS after the death of 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti in Minnesota. There are also walk outs scheduled in Atlanta for 01/26/26 and 01/27/26. Demonstrators urged lawmakers to halt the expansion of detention centers in Georgia and to support civil liberties protections. Senators Ossoff and Warnock have said they will oppose funding for ICE without added safeguards. Protesters stressed the importance of accountability after federal agents were involved in Pretti’s shooting and other controversial actions.
