ATLANTA - Atlanta police are searching for at least two gunmen who opened fire on a southwest Atlanta home, killing a grandmother.
The deadly shooting happened around 5 a.m. on Highway Road, just off of Beecher Road Tuesday, according to Atlanta Police Department. The gunfire awakened many in the neighborhood.
Relatives say 57-year-old Andrea Brown was holding, and shielding, her two-month-old grandson, Chosen, when the gunmen opened fire on her home.
"I would say somewhere between six or seven shots, and it was straight-on fire. It might have been two shooters," neighbor Patrick Joli told FOX 5.

Police revealed she was not the intended target, but she was the only person hit.
"They were shooting from the street into the house, indiscriminately. This woman was shot while she was in her room. There were several occupants inside the house, including children. The suspect just shot into this house and didn't care for life," Atlanta Police Lt. Germain Dearlove explained.
Family members who spoke with FOX 5's Aungelique Proctor expressed their profound grief, describing Brown as the heart and soul of their close-knit family. Her love for her family and her vibrant spirit made her the life of the party.
The heartbreaking loss of Brown has left her family and the community in mourning. Her home was a gathering place for cherished family celebrations, including Thanksgiving and Christmas, making her absence all the more devastating.
As the investigation unfolds, the Atlanta Police are actively pursuing leads to bring the perpetrators to justice and provide some closure to the grieving family and community affected by this senseless act of violence.
