Ronald Brown says he was at his son's side and thought 17-year old Rontavious Brown was going to pull through after he was shot 3 times in the back, but it wasn't meant to be.

"I just knew he would pull through, but he didn't. They came in there and said they had bad news," said Brown.

Now the father of five says his heart is broken. He says there is just too much violence in America these days

"I wish it could stop. I raised them to bury me, I didn't expect to bury them," said Brown.

Atlanta Police were called to 1100 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard at around 12:30 Wednesday morning on a possible gun battle with two people shot.

In addition to Brown, a 21 -year-old woman was shot in the leg. She is being treated at Atlanta Medical Center.

Atlanta Police said they are concerned about the area. They say there have been 5 deaths in 5 months in a two mile stretch.

In an ironic twist, someone shot Brown on the same porch where a 20 year old woman was killed back in April.

Teddy bears and mementos were still on display.

"We know there has been drug activity in the area. We are trying to determine if it was drug related, gang related or a simple argument," Major Adam Lee III told FOX 5 Atlanta.

Police say they have made arrests in all the past cases.

It is little solace for a heart broken father.

"I am empty, I am totally empty," Mr. Brown said. His 17-year-old son had just been released from jail two weeks prior to his killing.
