ATLANTA - Atlanta police are investigating an early morning shooting outside a bar along Edgewood Avenue in northeast Atlanta.
What we know:
The shooting happened in a popular nightlife district known for its bars, restaurants and late-night establishments. Witnesses told FOX 5 Atlanta the gunfire erupted outside Our Bar ATL, sending patrons scrambling for safety.
What they're saying:
One witness said people inside the club began ducking after reports of shots being fired outside.
"I just saw people ducking and apparently it was some shots going on outside," the witness said. "I was basically trying to make sure everybody around me was safe."
The witness also said they were told a security guard fired a weapon during an altercation involving a man and a woman outside the business. Police have not confirmed those details.
What's next:
The area remained taped off Wednesday morning as investigators processed the scene. A crime scene investigation van was seen arriving hours after the shooting.
Witnesses also reported seeing a person placed into a patrol car and taken from the scene, though it was not immediately clear whether the individual was connected to the shooting or whether any charges had been filed.
Atlanta police have released few details about the incident. Information about injuries, possible suspects and what led to the shooting has not yet been made public.
