School bus in crash at Highway 92, Main Street in Woodstock

Drivers are being urged to avoid part of Highway 92 in Woodstock Tuesday morning as police and firefighters respond to a serious crash.

What we know:

The Woodstock Police Department posted the traffic alert on its Facebook page at 7:17 a.m., saying the crash happened on northbound Highway 92 at Main Street.

Woodstock police and Woodstock Fire and Rescue crews are working at the scene.

FOX 5 Atlanta was able to see a school bus and another vehicle on a traffic camera. It appears the vehicle ran into the back of the school bus.

Shortly after 9 a.m., police confirmed to FOX 5 Atlanta that a school bus was involved and two juveniles on the scene complained of minor injuries and are being treated. They did not mention the driver of the other vehicle.

Drivers should expect delays in the area and use alternate routes if possible. Police have not said when the roadway is expected to fully reopen.

Message from elementary school

The principal from Woodstock Elementary School sent the following message:

Dear Wildcat Families,

This message is to inform you that one of our school buses, No. 050, was involved in a serious two-vehicle accident this morning at the intersection of Highway 92 and Main Street. All 20 students and the driver aboard the bus are safe. 

Additional counselors and an additional school nurse will be at the school to support the students upon their return as needed.
