6 people shot in SE Atlanta
Six people were shot on Redford Drive in SE Atlanta. Police are still searching for whoever pulled the trigger.
ATLANTA - Atlanta police are searching for the gunman who sent six people to the hospital after a shooting Sunday afternoon in one southeast Atlanta neighborhood.
According to authorities, the victims were standing in the front yard of a home near the intersection of Rebel Forest Drive SE and Redford Drive SE when a car pulled up and someone started shooting just after 4 p.m.
"It appears that the suspects drove in a vehicle and parked on the other side of the street and started shooting the victims from there," APD Homicide Commander Lt. Germain Dearlove said.
Police said five of the adult victims were listed as stable while a sixth person was listed in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Resident Brittany Banks said the sight of crime scene tape on her street was a usual one for her family and other neighbors who watched Sunday as investigators collected evidence from the scene.
"It’s really different to see all this out here today," Banks told FOX 5. "It kind of makes you wonder what was going on or wonder, but it could’ve been anyone, honestly."
Authorities said they believe the shooting was targeted. Because of the extent of the injuries and the number of people shot, Atlanta's homicide division is handling the investigation.
Atlanta police are working to identify suspects. They were not able to provide a description of the suspect's vehicle but said investigators are following a number of leads. If you have any information give Crime Stoppers a call at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
