Power strips sold on Amazon recalled over fire risk

Middle Way Electronics recalled over 5,500 CCCEI-branded power strips over concerns they may catch fire. (CPSC)

Multiple power strips that were sold on Amazon for nearly two years are being recalled, and customers are urged to return them for a refund.

Why you should care:

The recall comes after the manufacturer, Middle Way Electronics, learned about two cases where its CCCEI-branded power strips started sparking and melted, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) explained in the recall notice. The agency noted that no fires or injuries have been reported, but warned that a fire could cause serious injuries or death.

Sold on Amazon

In its recall notice, the CPSC indicated Middle Way Electronics’ CCCEI-branded power strips were available on Amazon from April 2024 and January 2026 and retailed for between $23 and $30. The recall affects the 6 foot, 10 foot, and 15 foot power strips. Approximately 5,500 of them were sold.
