Woman shot inside downtown Atlanta restaurant
A woman is in critical condition after being shot Tuesday morning inside of a downtown Atlanta restaurant. The suspected shooter has been arrested. Tyler Fingert reporting.
ATLANTA - A woman was critically injured in a shooting in downtown Atlanta Monday morning, with the suspected shooter taken into custody following a rapid response by nearby officers.
What we know:
According to police, Georgia State University Police Department officers were already in the area when the gunfire occurred and detained the suspect as he exited the building with a gun. The suspected shooter was later turned over to Atlanta Police Department.
Investigators say the shooting appears to have stemmed from a dispute. The intended male target was not injured, and no additional suspects or victims were found. The investigation remains ongoing.
The shooting was reported at approximately 7:49 a.m. FOX 5 Atlanta also responded to the scene and observed police officers and crime scene tape at Summit Cafeteria at 30 Marietta Street NW.
