Police probe overnight homicide on Hogan Road

ATLANTA - Police are investigating a deadly shooting in southwest Atlanta that left one person dead early Monday morning.
What we know:
Officers were called just before 2 a.m. to Hogan Road in the Ben Hill neighborhood after receiving reports of a person shot. When police arrived, they found a gunshot victim.
Homicide detectives and the medical examiner responded and remained on the scene for several hours as the investigation continued.
The shooting happened near Deerwood Academy. Police shut down part of Hogan Road while investigators worked the scene. Officers advised residents to avoid the area, though school is out this week.
