Atlanta Police find a gun, computer equipment, and other items believed to have been stolen out of vehicles.

The recovery occurred as officers surrounded three, including two juveniles, suspected of stealing cars.

So far, there is nothing unusual about this account from APD.

It is what they discovered while frisking the trio that raised eyebrows. All three were wearing ankle monitors.

The monitor is a device used for defendants while they are on probation. Typically, a judge agrees to the monitoring device after a lawyer has made an appeal that his or her client will conform to norms and not break any more laws.
