Man critically injured in Paulding Co. shooting

A man is in critical condition after a shooting early Friday morning in Paulding County, according to the sheriff’s office. This is a breaking news report. 

A man is in critical condition after a shooting early Friday morning in Paulding County, according to the sheriff’s office.

What we know:

Deputies responded just after 6 a.m. to the 200 block of Wallace Way in Rockmart, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the "individuals" believed to be responsible left the scene before deputies arrived. Investigators with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division are working to determine what led to the shooting.

Officials said there is no ongoing threat to the public as the investigation continues.

What we don't know:

The sheriff's office did not reveal a possible motive for the shooting or release any information about relationship between victim and potential suspects.
