CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - A man was killed early Friday in a pedestrian crash on Highway 92 near Interstate 75, according to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.
What we know:
Deputies were called to the scene around 6 a.m. on Highway 92 just east of I-75. Investigators said the adult male was attempting to cross the roadway from a Hampton Inn toward a nearby BP gas station when he was struck.
Authorities said the man was not using a crosswalk, was wearing dark-colored clothing and was crossing in an area without lighting. A westbound passenger vehicle hit the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.
