SWAT standoff at Atlanta apartments ends peacefully

An hours-long SWAT standoff at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex ended peacefully with one person in custody.

Police said no one was injured and one person was arrested after SWAT responded to a southwest Atlanta apartment complex.

Police said at around 9 a.m. on Wednesday the suspect and victim are out of their unit the Landing Square Apartments on the 3300 block of Greenbriar Parkway. Investigators are interviewing them at police headquarters.

Atlanta Police Department Capt. Tommy Atzert said the incident began around 2 a.m. when a woman called 911 and said a man was holding her daughter hostage.

At the scene, the victim, identified as 30-year-old Christa Calhoon, said that her boyfriend had left the apartment by jumping out the window. Calhoon would not come out of the apartment, however, despite officers asking her to leave.

After hours of negotiations, SWAT units entered the apartment. Inside, they found Calhoon and her boyfriend, identified as 25-year-old Larry Robinson, still inside the home.

Police said it took about six hours from the initial call for the incident to be resolved.

No one was injured in the situation and Robinson is in custody with multiple charges pending.

Police said they found a gun in the residence, but are working to determine if it was used during the incident.

The investigation continues.
