BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. - Emergency rescue crews are combing Lake Allatoona Sunday evening after a 27-year-old man disappeared after going into the water.
What we know:
Georgia Department of Natural Resources game wardens rushed to the lake near Glade Marina at 12:49 p.m. Sunday following reports of a possible drowning. Bartow County Fire Rescue teams quickly joined the emergency response.
Officials said the 27-year-old man was out on the water when he exited off the back of a ski boat.
Once he entered the lake, he went under the surface and never re-emerged.
Search crews are actively scanning the depths using boat-mounted SONAR, and several additional rescue resources have been brought to the scene to assist with the tracking efforts.
What we don't know:
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the missing 27-year-old man. Investigators also have not confirmed whether the victim was wearing a life jacket or what specific factors caused him to sink after stepping off the ski boat.
