DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A DeKalb County police officer was involved in a multi-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning, according to the department.
What we know:
Officers responded to the collision around 6:11 a.m. in the 5400 block of Memorial Drive, near Ray Road. Officials stated the chain reaction began when a driver struck the rear of a police cruiser, propelling it over the median and into oncoming traffic lanes. The officer's vehicle was then struck by another car, which was subsequently hit by a tow truck.
The officer and another individual were transported to a local hospital with injuries described as minor.
FOX 5 crews at the scene observed multiple vehicles with significant damage, including one positioned on the median and another being cleared by a tow truck. While a police cruiser remained in the roadway, its specific damage was not immediately visible.
