U.S. officials say a health screening operation is now open at New York’s JFK Airport amid reports of possible pneumonic plague deaths in Russia, though they describe the risk to Americans as extremely low. Questions remain about the death of a Russian laboratory worker, which Russian officials attributed to pneumonia, and a reported second death possibly linked to the disease.
