Thursday midday weather forecast
North Georgia is in for a sharp swing from summer heat to fall chill. Sunshine could push highs into the mid- to upper 80s today, with some areas reaching the 90s and record warmth possible again tomorrow. An air quality alert is in effect, so strenuous outdoor activity is best saved for cooler hours. A mostly dry cold front moves through Friday night, dropping Saturday highs into the 60s and overnight lows into the 40s and low 50s. Mountain communities including Blue Ridge, Blairsville and Clayton could see temperatures in the 30s Sunday morning. Warmer, more seasonal weather returns by Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the mid-70s.
