Mahendra "Mick" Patel files federal lawsuit after 47-day detention
Mahendra "Mick" Patel has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Acworth, the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office, and various law enforcement officers. Patel was wrongfully accused of attempted kidnapping at an Acworth Walmart in March 2025 and spent 47 days in jail despite surveillance video that his attorneys say clearly exonerates him. All charges were dismissed in August 2025. The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages for malicious prosecution and constitutional violations.
