Mother's Day reprieve: I-285 Westside shutdown postponed
Atlanta drivers can breathe a sigh of relief this Mother's Day weekend. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has officially canceled the planned total closure of I-285 on the Westside due to the threat of heavy rain and storms moving through the metro area. The massive project, which was set to shut down all lanes between MLK Jr. Drive (Exit 9) and Cascade Road (Exit 7) starting Friday evening, requires dry conditions for crews to replace aging concrete slabs.
