Bill could dissolve city of Hiram over financial crisis
State Sen. Jason Anavitarte has proposed Senate Bill 630, which could dissolve the city of Hiram due to a looming budget crisis. If passed, the city would have one year starting in July to stabilize its finances or be absorbed by Paulding County. City leaders are now considering a property tax for the first time in decades to create new revenue. Mayor Frank Moran insists the city remains viable, while residents rally to save Hiram’s local government and identity.
