Veteran officer killed, another critically wounded

A 10-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department was killed and another officer is fighting for his life after a robbery suspect opened fire inside a North Side hospital Saturday morning. The shooting occurred around 10:50 a.m. at Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital. According to authorities, the officers had transported a suspect to the facility for a medical observation when the individual managed to discharge a weapon, striking both officers.
