Georgia taxpayers plagued by identify theft threats

One of the biggest threats to Georgia taxpayers isn't higher taxes -- it's stolen identities. In 2025, the average refund claimed on confirmed identity theft returns in Georgia was just over $15 thousand dollars, and a total of $154 million dollars worth of refunds claimed in identity theft cases.
