Gloria and Emily Estefan Talk “Basura”
Music icon Gloria Estefan and her daughter Emily are hard at work in Atlanta, preparing for the world premiere of their new musical “Basura.” The mother-daughter duo is writing the score for the stage production, which based on the documentary “Landfill Harmonic” and tells the fascinating story of the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura. We’re sitting down with the Estefans and book writer Karen Zacarías at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre, learning more about the process of transferring this inspiring story to the stage. Then, we’re catching up with Atlanta’s own Donnie, who will perform his acclaimed album “The Colored Section” at this year’s Atlanta Jazz Festival.
