APD officer shot responding to mental health call
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum and Mayor Andre Dickens confirmed that 30-year-old Officer Devante Matthews was shot in the arm while responding to a domestic mental health call involving an armed individual. Officer Matthews was brought to Grady in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Michael Gates, was taken into custody following the standoff.
