Acclaimed films in race for Oscar gold

Academy Award nominations will be announced on Thursday, January 22, celebrating the best films and performances of 2025. Contenders for Best Actress include previous winner Jennifer Lawrence for the drama "Die My Love" and Tessa Thompson for her starring role in "Hedda." Summer blockbuster "Superman" – much of which was filmed at Georgia's Trilith Studios – has been shortlisted in the Sound and Visual Effects categories.
