Brookhaven police earn PETA award for puppy rescue
The Brookhaven Police Department is receiving national recognition from PETA following the swift rescue of a three-month-old Maltipoo puppy. The investigation was sparked in January 2026 after viewers of a live stream reported seeing 19-year-old rapper Aspen Easterling (also known as Aspen Kartier) repeatedly striking the small dog.
