Wildfire update: Progress reported in South Georgia
Firefighters are reporting significant progress tonight as they battle two major wildfires that have scorched a combined total of nearly 50,000 acres across the southern part of the state. A weekend of cooler temperatures and scattered rainfall provided a much-needed window for the Georgia Forestry Commission and local crews to reinforce containment lines and douse hot spots.
