Hours-long standoff ends peacefully with man in custody

A barricade situation at a home near Fletcher and Coleman streets in southwest Atlanta ended peacefully with a 53-year-old man taken into custody. Atlanta Police officers originally responded to a dispute Tuesday night and learned the man was wanted on an aggravated assault charge. After negotiating through the night while the suspect was barricaded alone in a bedroom, police took him into custody without incident for a hospital mental health evaluation before criminal proceedings continue.
