DOJ reaches $3M settlement with Georgia licensing boards

The Justice Department announced a historic $3 million settlement with 42 Georgia licensing boards for violating the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). The agreement resolves allegations that the state failed to recognize out-of-state professional licenses for military members and their spouses. Up to 5,000 individuals may be eligible for compensation. The settlement requires Georgia to streamline applications for teachers, nurses, and other professionals relocating on military orders.
