Trial underway for former Uvalde school police officer
Nearly four years after the deadly shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, the criminal trial of former school police officer Adrian Gonzales has begun. Gonzales faces 29 felony counts of abandoning or endangering a child. Prosecutors argue he failed to follow his training and did not act to protect students and teachers during the May 2022 attack that killed 19 children and two educators. The case draws renewed focus on the more than hour-long delay by hundreds of responding officers. Jury selection began 01/05/26, and the trial is expected to last at least two weeks.
