Portia: Juneteenth

Fred Parham grew up celebrating Juneteenth — the oldest U.S. holiday marking the end of slavery — in his Texas hometown. Makungu and Chinganji Akinyela never heard of the holiday until they were adults, but now they celebrate every year. The three community activists sit with Portia to discuss the cultural and historical importance of Juneteenth and why everyone should celebrate, regardless of their ethnicity.
