Portia: Deaf Awareness
Decatur's very own Matt Maxey, a Black deaf ASL performer, recently went viral for his dynamic performance translating Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl 2025 Halftime Show. Maxey is the founder of DEAFinitely Dope, a local "company that provides sign language interpretation for live music events for deaf and hard of hearing fans." He sits with Portia to talk about connecting cultures by making music, especially hip hop, more accessible.
