Worker falls in hole in downtown Atlanta

A vacuum truck operator reportedly fell in a hole while working in downtown Atlanta. The worker had to be pulled out of the hole and transported to a nearby hospital. 

A construction worker was rescued after falling into a manhole in downtown Atlanta, according to Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.

What we know:

Crews responded to the 100 block of Trinity Avenue, where they found an adult male trapped about 15 feet below ground. Firefighters secured the area and began a technical rescue operation.

Officials said crews used a stokes basket to safely lift the worker from the confined space.

The man was alert and responsive but complained of pain in his hip, lower back and arm. He was turned over to EMS for evaluation and transported to a hospital.

Authorities said the situation was stabilized without further incident.
