When asked by reporters about changing the colors of the iconic aircraft, Trump said in January, "We want power blue, not baby blue," referring to the current color of Air Force One. "Everything has its time and place. We’ll be changing the colors," he added.

According to the Associated Press, Boeing is altering two of its 747-800 aircraft that will replace the existing fleet of two older Boeing 747-200 aircraft that President Donald Trump uses now and that take on the Air Force One call sign when Trump is aboard.
An Air Force statement, obtained by the AP, says a third 747-8i Boeing jet will be painted in the same colors.

In 2018, Trump ordered that those new jets would replace the Kennedy-era blue-and-white design for a white-and-navy color scheme.
The top half of the airplane would have been white, while the bottom, including the belly, would have been dark blue. A streak of dark red would have run from the cockpit to the tail. The coloring was remarkably similar to the exterior of Trump’s personal plane.
In 2025, the ruling family of Qatar gifted Trump a luxury Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet to be added to the Air Force One fleet, a move that faced scrutiny from some.
